Early in my career I worked for Billings Computer. This was a subsidiary of Billings Corporation that was involved in research and development of hydrogen energy for everything from cars to energy in the home. Recent developments are looking like they may soon become viable for at least automobiles. While sharing some of the issues of energy distribution with oil, the difference is that regional production plants could be created virtually anywhere on the earth. There are several approaches to producing molecular hydrogen. It has traditionally been done by processing methane using high-temperature steam. This process produces greenhouse gases. However, newer processes are becoming viable that greatly reduce, or eliminate greenhouse gas production.
